Week 5 Tools For Life- Calming Down

Dear Parents/ Guardians:

This week, your child learned strategies to calm down when they are upset. Demonstrating self control is a very important life skill that all children will need to be successful. We have been encouraging your child to share their feelings, but they need to know appropriate strategies to do this.

Please take this opportunity to discuss what your child learned using the following questions. We are sure that you will be impressed with the many strategies they have learned. Encourage them to use these strategies at home as well as school.

  1. What causes you to get upset and need to calm down?
  2. What are some ways that you like to calm down?
  3. Share with your child, times that you get upset and need to calm down.
  4. Share with your child, ways that you calm down.
