As a result of the COVID cases at the school; we are closed as of the end of this school day. We will reopen for classes on Monday March 8th, this letter from the board explains the situation and the decision by the board: School Closure St John Feb 24th 21
Once the closure decision was made, we did our best to get Chromebooks out to almost all of the students that were here. We started with the oldest students and got down to grade 1; Kindergarten parents and any students that were absent or isolating today can send someone to pick up a Chromebook from us on Thursday. We are running a Chromebook drive-thru from 10 am – 12:30 pm on Thursday February 25th. Please write your child’s name on a piece of paper and show it to us through your window, we will then place the device in your trunk.
Students will learn remotely while we are shut down, tomorrow will run like a snow day (asynchronous learning) where the teachers will provide work and communication with the students until noon. Starting Friday Feb 26th and running to Friday March 5th we will run synchronous learning just like we had between Christmas and Feb. 8th.
Regarding COVID 19, everyone should self-monitor and definitely get tested if you experience any symptoms. Anyone who has been asked to isolate must be alone at home away from family and friends. Anyone in isolation is not to leave their home.
Please Note: that there is COVID testing available at Victoria Hills Community Center again next Tuesday March 2nd from 4 – 7pm. (appointments are not required)
Testing is also available every day at a number of sites in the area, the closest one is in downtown Kitchener at 15 Charles St. (appointments required – booked online)
Take care and God Bless,
Mr. Paul Gladding
