While other schools experience declining enrolment, St. John continues to grow, with 400 students at present. We share our beautiful school building with many community groups at night; Polish School on Saturdays; Beyond the Bell (YMCA) daily; and we offer an extended day program.
The staff at St. John Catholic School is a caring, dynamic and dedicated crew who celebrate thinking and learning outside the box and believe whole-heartedly in a #ICAN mindset. Our students are diverse in language and culture, energetic and eager to learn. Our parents/families support student success and we value their ongoing partnership. Their volunteerism creates opportunities for our students beyond the curriculum. Our community partners, particularly the Waterloo Region Catholic Schools Foundation, the Catholic Community Foundation of Waterloo Region, Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro, Strong Start and Nutrition for Learning and our Breakfast Club volunteers, support our students directly through their generosity of grants, resources and time. Father Cruz guides our spiritual and faith life as our pastor and the CWL and other parish volunteers dedicate countless hours to supporting our school community in a variety of ways.
As a Catholic school, and as Disciples of Christ, it is our mission to educate and nurture hope in all learners to realize their full potential to transform God’s world. St. John Catholic School is at the heart of this amazing community and as a staff it is our promise to serve with a vision of success for each and a place for all. This year our theme is “I CAN Train My Brain” and each day we encourage our students to take on the challenge of learning with grit and positivity!
